Casa Fortunato is an established Lisbon-based architecture, design and interiors studio founded by architects António Falcão Costa Lopes and Filipa Fortunato.
We are the creative authors of an impressive portfolio than spans residential, commercial and hospitality projects. A coherent studio that reframes the ordinary into something fabulous through architecture, interior design and the arts – creating hotels, offices, museums to residential concepts and homes.
Our deep understanding of the design process allows us to open a creative dialogue between the building, its purpose and the ambitions, often dreams, of the client. This is the design hallmark and distinctive soul of Casa Fortunato, something that started at our first legacy guesthouse in Lisbon.
Right now, we are currently working on a new hotel villa down on the coast, an atelier in Lisbon, a smart Lisboan apartment and a rooftop conversion and hosting a platform for one of Portugal’s most respected craftswoman.

We are António Falcão Costa Lopes and Filipa Fortunato and are the founders, the thinkers behind the design house and label: Casa Fortunato – an architecture, design and interiors studio based in Lisbon.
We are also a husband and wife team, a mother and a father. Our fondness for design, harmony and a philosophy of living well, is the bond that unites us and defines us. We are people-lovers, foodies, collectors and, from the walls of our house, avid custodians of the arts and design, from vases, textiles, paintings, to mid-century lighting and print.
Architect António Falcão Costa Lopes has an excellent eye for spotting architectural potential and buildings with ‘good bones’, exploiting their locational aspects, construction aesthetics and design scope for development. From heritage buildings, boulevard appeal, commercial to residential, António loves design, and is a collector of iconic culture, a restorer and curator of modern pieces that adorn his projects into a seamless cohesion of style and architecture.

António has long been an architect of residential buildings, it’s an anchor point of his career and his fascination in creating liveable spaces, that have a functional and emotional connection for those fortunate to get hold of one of his projects. Always keen to spot an opportunity, Casa Fortunato offers turnkey solutions to investors as a real estate advisor, and for those seeking to create a special home in Portugal, whether it be on the coast, in the city or in the vineyards. Equally, creating gorgeously large and spacious apartment living in prime locations is one of our specialities.
Casa Fortunato Lisbon was our first venture into the world of hotels and hospitality, which within the first three months of opening was the starlight of international press: New York Times, Tatler, Vogue, AD, Elle Décor, Monocle, Wallpaper.
Objects made beautifully, sculptures that draw the imagination and paintings that bring meaning are the natural touchstones for Casa Fortunato’s studio and something we like to foster supporting young talents as well as those legacy heroes.
